Privacy Policy
The short version: the Plectrum apps collect nothing, transmit nothing, and have no way to identify you.
Last updated 29 July 2026
This policy covers Plectrum Practice and Plectrum Theory for iOS, and this website at plectrum.app. It also covers Plectrum Exercises when that app is released.
Data I collect
None. The apps do not collect, store or transmit any personal information. Specifically, there is:
- No account, sign-up, sign-in or user profile.
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind, and no third party analytics SDK.
- No advertising, no ad network, and no advertising identifier (IDFA).
- No crash reporting service.
- No access to your contacts, photos, location, microphone or camera.
- No cookies or trackers on this website.
Network access
The apps do not make network requests. Everything they need, including the entire Plectrum Theory curriculum, is bundled at install time. Both apps work fully with the device in airplane mode. Because nothing is sent anywhere, there is no data for me or anyone else to see, sell or lose.
Information stored on your device
Both apps save your settings locally so they are still there next time you open them. In Plectrum Practice that is things like your selected key, mode, tempo and mix levels. In Plectrum Theory it is which lessons you have completed, which you have bookmarked, your answers to the check-yourself questions, and whether you have seen the welcome screen.
This information never leaves your device. It is not synced between your devices and it is not visible to me. Deleting the app removes all of it permanently.
Purchases
The apps are sold through the App Store. Apple handles every part of the transaction. I never see your name, email address, payment details or billing address. Apple provides me only with anonymous, aggregated sales figures. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not by this one.
Children
The apps are suitable for all ages and collect no data from anyone, including children under 13. There is nothing to disclose under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or the equivalent provisions of the GDPR, because no personal data is processed at all.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data held about you. I hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing to access, correct, export or delete. Any information the apps store is under your own control on your own device.
This website
This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third party fonts, scripts or trackers, and does not attempt to identify you. It is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server request logs. See Vercel's Privacy Policy for how they handle those.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of an app ever collects data, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described here rather than buried. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
Contact
Questions about this policy can go to support@plectrum.app. The apps are made by Method Missing LLC.
Effective 29 July 2026.
